MAIL LIST ETIQUETTE

Remember that everyone on the list reads your posts. If you have a personal message to another list member, you can see their email address on each of their posts. Use their personal address instead of posting to the list.

Don't say anything on the list that you wouldn't want printed on the front page of the newspaper.

Trim irrelevant information out of your posts. You can leave parts of previous posts that help to remind members of what you're posting about.

When you start a new TOPIC, please change the SUBJECT header to reflect the subject of your new topic.

CONFIGURING EMAIL APPLICATIONS TO ORGANIZE LIST MAIL

General: You can easily configure your email program to place all the MMOOSdroppings email you receive into its own mailbox, right at the moment you receive it. Basically, you tell your email program to look for some part of one of the headers that is common to every MMOOSdroppings mail list message. When it finds that part, your email program places it in the mailbox of your choice.

APPLE MAIL

1. Create a new mailbox called, for example, MMOOSdroppings.

2. Select Mail > Preferences. Click on the Rules icon. Click the Add Rule button. Give the rule a Description ("MMOOSdroppings", perhaps?). Leave the pop-up menu at "If ANY", then select SUBJECT and CONTAINS and type "mmoosdroppings" in the field.

3. Under "Perform the following actions" select "Move message" to mailbox MMOOSdroppings (for example). Mail will then ask if you want to apply the new rule to open mailboxes. Why not?

4. 4.If you have already received a lot of MMOOSdroppings email, you can get it into your MMOOSdroppings mailbox. SELECT ALL of your InBox mail, then go to the Message menu then down to "Apply Rules".
